We raised our standards to meet your expectations.
In the world of cord blood banking, public banks – such as the New York Blood Center, Duke and Tokyo University – have set the standard for excellence and innovation. Yet, public cord blood banks aren’t always convenient or close by. Moreover, many parents want to have access to their child’s own stem cells, which they can only get from a family cord blood bank.
We're the only family cord blood bank in Southern California to rely on the most advanced, automated processing, freezing and storage technology.
Our FDA cleared AXP™ cord blood processing system is fully automated - which studies show is the very best technology to extract the greatest number of stem cells from any given sample. And the BioArchive® system we use to freeze and store cord blood produces greater cell viability than any other cord blood stem cell preservation technology. Unlike the vast majority of family cord blood banks, we store samples - your samples - undisturbed under liquid nitrogen to ensure your stem cells remain viable for as long as possible.
In fact, our exemplary freezing and storing methods are underscored in the Guidelines for Collection, Processing and Storage of Cord blood stem cells published by the New York State Department of Health. Click here for the article.

FDA Approved Sterile Collection Bags
Additionally, PacifiCord uses the only FDA approved sterile (and Heparin free) collection bag for use in c-sections. Using this FDA approved sterile collection bag is necessary to maintain a sterile operating room. Furthermore, PacifiCord uses the FDA and NDA approved anticoagulant Citrate Phosphate Dextrose Solution* (CPD), a cell protector, also recommended by the Department of Health and Human Services, Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, Guidance for Industry.**
CPD preserves stem cell metabolism, unlike Heparin, allowing the cells to maintain their integrity between the time of collection to processing, as well as result in a significantly higher total nuclear cell count (TNC) before and after cord blood processing.***
*PacifiCord’s collection bag containing CPD is FDA NDA approved and CE marked under the Medical Devices Directive for the collection of placental/umbilical cord blood. http://www.pall.com/medical_41560.asp
** During collection of cord blood, we recommend that you use an appropriate closed, sterile container sealed in a manner that prevents cell loss and contamination.
