As President and CEO of PacifiCord, Bob Kurilko serves as the strategic visionary of PacifiCord and works closely with its parent company, HealthBanks Biotech, to oversee the company’s business and laboratory operations. Read More
- With nearly a quarter century of sales, marketing, and operations experience, Kurilko is accomplished in working with niche, mid-size companies to help them become market leaders in their industry. Kurilko’s ambition is to establish PacifiCord as Southern California’s market leader in family cord blood banking by offering a world-class facility that combines global best practices in processing, freezing, and storage, and its exclusive Cord Blood Concierge™ Service.
Prior to joining PacifiCord, Kurilko served as executive vice president and general manager of Aspen Marketing Services following its acquisition of Newgen Results, a leader in automotive customer relationship management services. In this post, Kurilko managed the company’s San Diego, Dallas and Toronto offices. Prior to the acquisition, Kurilko was recruited to serve as vice president of marketing and operations for Newgen Results where he directed the marketing, operations, customer service, and call center teams.
Kurilko also served as vice president of Edmunds.com, the leading automotive information web site, where he oversaw strategic planning, sales, product development, and marketing. Kurilko initiated Edmunds.com sales structure and team, built its product development capability, and created the company’s marketing department credited with establishing Edmunds.com as the industry leader. Key accomplishments included negotiating Edmunds.com’s staple business partnerships, creating the company’s patented applications and content, and implementing marketing and advertising programs that elevated the company’s brand profile.
Prior to Edmunds.com, Kurilko also worked at Nissan North America where he held sales, marketing, and operations positions across the United States and was selected by executive appointment to be the first American to work directly for parent company, Nissan Motor Limited, in Tokyo, Japan.
Moreover, Bob has been a speaker at major conferences in the United States and abroad and interviewed by the media to provide insights into events relating to his industries.
Kurilko was born in Willoughby, Ohio and received his bachelor’s of science in mechanical engineering (BSME) from the University of Pittsburgh. He also has earned a master’s of business administration (MBA) from Edinburgh Business School in the United Kingdom. He currently resides in Lake Forest, Calif., with his wife and three sons. In his spare time, Kurilko enjoys sports, non-fiction books, and health and nutrition.

With more than 40 years of experience in blood banking and transfusion medicine, Paul V. Holland, M.D. is a leading expert in the field. As PacifiCord’s Medical Director, Dr. Holland oversees the medical and laboratory procedures for PacifiCord’s cord blood banking operation. Read More
- Dr. Holland also serves as a Clinical Professor of Medicine and Pathology in the Division of Hematology/Oncology and the Pathology Department at the University of California, Davis, Medical Center (UCDMC). Additionally he is the Scientific Director of Delta Blood Bank in Stockton, CA. Dr. Holland continues to be involved in research activities related to TRALI (transfusion related acute lung injury) as well as other transfusion-associated complications, and transfusion-transmitted infections. Dr. Holland was the Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Sacramento Medical Foundation Blood Center (currently doing business as BloodSource) from 1983 to 2004. Dr. Holland started his career at the NIH Blood Bank Department in 1963, where he spent 20 years with this government organization, including nine years as Chief of the Blood Bank Department. Dr. Holland has more than 250 published papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and books. He has served on multiple committees for the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and NIH, and has been an advisor to various U.S. government committees and agencies. As a consultant, he has aided numerous biotechnology companies, foreign governments and international organizations, among them the World Health Organization (WHO) that assists blood banks in third-world countries. Dr. Holland served two years as President of the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT). He has been a nominating committee member for the Nobel Prize in Medicine and Physiology for three years. Dr. Holland is the recipient of numerous honors, including being an ISBT Lifetime Honorary Member and three awards from the AABB. In 2009, he will receive the Susan Leden Memorial Award from the California Blood Bank Society (CBBS). Dr. Holland received his BA in zoology at the University of California, Riverside, in 1958 followed by his MD at the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1962. In addition, he has performed post-graduate work in immunology, immunochemistry, genetics and virology at the NIH Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences and completed his internal medicine residency at UCSF. Dr. Holland currently resides in Walnut Creek, Calif., with his wife of 46 years. He has four children and six grandchildren. He enjoys tennis and photography.

Passionate about educating new and expectant parents about healthcare issues and the overall importance of cord blood preservation, Wendy Spry, LVN and Certified Perinatal Support Specialist (CPSS), is the resident Healthcare Educator at PacifiCord. Read More
- Her primary role is to teach parents, as well as the surrounding healthcare community, including physicians, nurses and childbirth educators, about the benefits of cord blood preservation through classes, intensive training sessions, e-newsletters and facility tours at PacifiCord. Because cord blood preservation is just one of the many important decisions expectant parents need to make, Spry also provides seminars that focus on cord blood banking, as well as important parenting issues, such as infant CPR, infant car seat safety and breastfeeding. Concurrently serving as a nurse at the Women's Center & Newborn Nursery at Orange County's Coastal Communities Hospital, Spry is intimately connected to new mothers and their unique needs and concerns, as well as the latest advancements in stem cell therapy research. Spry educates expectant mothers on childbirth, breastfeeding, newborn care and parenting. Through her lactation work, Spry has contributed to the increased breastfeeding percentage at Coastal Communities Hospital, as well as overall patient satisfaction scores in the labor and delivery department. Prior to Coastal Communities Hospital, Spry worked at Birth Wisdom, an intensive training facility for CPSS and Professional Labor Support Specialists. While at Birth Wisdom, she developed and implemented training and curriculum for classes on childbirth education, lactation, advanced doula training, business development and newborn care. Spry also contributed to the development of the CPSS certification system, ensuring greater education and safety for those providing bedside care to laboring mothers. In 2003, Spry was quoted as an expert source in the book "The Doula Advantage" about the role of doulas in the childbirth process. Prior to entering the nursing field, Spry was an entertainer for Disney and ABC Television where she portrayed popular Disney characters, including Snow White, in various national and international shows, parades, commercials and television specials. An Orange County, Calif., native, Spry lives in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., with her three children: Tyler (age 16), Madeline (age 14) and Evan (age seven). A graduate of California State University, Long Beach, and Pacific College, Spry enjoys spending time with her children, her two dogs, target shooting, singing, ballet and staying fit.
